This subject keeps coming up at least once a month so let us sort it out once and for all.
Certain vehicles such as Hondas, and Toyotas are listed as having up to 5 separate, diode blocked door triggers and dome light supervision.
A simple way around this is as follows.
If your vehicle has a dome light delay after closing the doors, say up to a minute but as soon as the doors are locked it either extinguishes immediately or within 2-4 seconds.
Then you can connect directly to the dome trigger and you don't need dome supervision because the vehicle already has it.
This applies AFIK to all BMW, Honda, Toyota and possibly F series Fords.
A simple test to find out, see above.
Apologies to Mods but I appear unable to post anymore on hot topics.

did you mean, "you can connect directly to the DOOR trigger and you don't need dome supervision because the vehicle already has it?"

No go to either the NEG (most vehicles) or POS which toggles on when a door is opened at the DOME LIGHT (or it's feed at the BCM).

And yes, you don't need dome supervision because by my definition above the vehicle already has it.

Thanks for the clarification. So by you explanation in the first post, if the vehicle didn't have fading lights as described, we would NOT directly connect to the dome trigger then?
So for example, on a Chevy or Ford Fusion, what would you normally do?
I personally have never bothered w/ dome supervision...

That depends on the vehicle and your experience.
