I have a single microswitch that I am needing to hook up 2 sets of wires to it such that when the microswitch is closed, both sets of wires connect to each other. One set of wires contains a ground (A) and the other set of wires contains a fused ignition feed (E)
A, B, C, D, E, and F are identified in the link below.
So when the microswitch is in the closed position, I need wires A and B connected to each other AND also E and F need to come together when that same microswitch is in the closed position. Also the combo of A and B cannot make contact with the combo of E and F regardless if the microswitch is in open or closed state. The C and D is on a separate microswitch which is activated when the aftermarket shifter is in the reverse position. The microswitch that A and B as well as E and F need to connect to is activated when the shifter is in the PARK position. The shifter only has provisions for 2 microswitches one activated in PARK and a separate one activated in REVERSE. If a 3rd microswitch could be added, it would make this task much easier but there is no room for it on the shifter to install it. Also a DPDT microswitch is not available in the size that it needs to be in order to fit in this aftermarket shifter to replace the 2 terminal microswitch that is activated when the shifter is in the P/N position, so that option is unfortunately a no go.
As you can see in the image below, "A" is a ground wire and "E" is a fused ignition feed in the table below. The full schematics of the wiring are listed below as well. The factory shifter accomplishes the task of combining A to B, and E to F when in Park and C to D when in reverse through 3 microswitches, but the use of the aftermarket shifter and lack of a 3rd microswitch is the challenge. As you can see, combing A and B tells the PCM that the shifter is in the PARK position so that the PCM can differentiate when the shifter is in gear vs park/neutral. Combing E and F enables the car to actually start while the car is in the PARK position, essentially a neutral safety switch. C and D combined allow the cars reverse lights to come on when in REVERSE position. Also A and B combined allow for the trunk release mechanism to work and it will only open when the car is shifted in Park/Neutral. Normally you could just jumper A and B together but that will send a constant signal to the PCM that the car is always in park, which creates issues in the tuning tables for when the car is not in park and actually in gear.
Can I use a DPDT relay to accomplish what I'm needing to do with this single microswitch or do I need to use 2 separate SPST relays somehow? And how would I go about wiring it up to the various pins on the relays?
