cold weather fiberglass

Hey all i'm new the fiberglass and the fourm. I'm planing on fiber glassing my spare tire area to hold my 2 AMPs. I have and MDF thing now but would like it to look cleaner. My concerns are 1) i live in canada and it gets -30C here in Jan so what about cracking. I don't know if i should put something in between the fiberglass and the bottom of the well, like foam or wood. 2) in the summer when its 30C plus out I'm worried about it squeaking and being annoying. the thoughts on this are the fiber glass should touch as little of the car as possible. My backround on all of this is ZERO. so any help is good help. I've searched the forum but have found the 100% answer and don't want to start before i have that perfect answer. Thanks

Well best thing to do is read label of specific brand fiberglass resin. theyalways tell you the drytimes and temperature ranges to work with. also check out You Tube videos will give you good ideas and techniques for you amp rack

I like to use a thick felt or fleece as an extra layer on the backside of the enclosure/rack to act as a padding to the parts. Just make sure that when you make your parts you take into account the thickness of your padding and how much the parts will "flex" with heat/cold. The first part isn't too difficult; the "flex" portion is more trial and error... climate effects will vary from city to city even, so we (or at least I) can't give truly valid solutions. Different brands of resin and construction affect the shrink/expand properties of the materials. Good news though is that it is the spare tire area, an area that typically doesn't see much direct sunlight (assuming you are in a sedan) so that will minimize the car metal distorting with the f/g equipment.
