im sure this unit is made by mis it is a computer for the car it has a windows operating system on it and the main menu on screen has different applications to choose from i.e cameras fitted to the vehicle ive seen this on pimp my ride if anyone knows more about this please let me know thanks in advance.

Don't buy from drivesoft. Build your own. It's really easy. Or go to MP3car.com and buy one of the setups they have. The drivesoft OS is really crappy. There are much better frontends out there. Check out Frodoplayer and Centrafuse for starters.

I think I spent somewhere around 1k or so (including the computer touch screen). I used mostly used parts but I think you could probably come close to that with new parts. I used mp3car.com as a source and it was very helpful. The computer was able to do mp3s, dvds, xm (using the xmpcr), navigation, vehicle stats (speed, rpms, etc using special software), am/fm radio. It could pretty much do what any head unit can do. Unfortunately my car was totaled before I could put it in so I ended up selling it.

Those touch screen monitors have some major glare issues too!

Yes they certainly do but there are other solutions to such as remote control or even a mouse/keyboard.
