Well...that says straight up it's a one-way Xmax.  So, that leads us to this conclusion (which I've already concluded):  long throw woofers work well as downfiring.  The 1% sag is probably correct. 
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

so, to help put this to rest, what your saying is that (all dependant on the woofer size) the smaller the surround (not taking into account the spider elasticity for now) the more heavy cone will weigh it down, stretching the surround past the 5% point making it a bad downfiring woofer? or so the 5% point from the pdf on the website.
