OK haven't worked on/installed a dei remote start in a long, long time. I have a 98 taurus in my shop that the remote start is accussed of drawing the battery down. The install is pretty sketchy but nothing is unsafe, it does work. I have a  question:  in testing I noticed that were the ribbon cable comes out of the brain that everything has 12 volts except yellow wire, Is this supposed to be? This car has a pretty decent draw, the dealer claimed a 6.5 amp draw, i measured 4. any ideas/info would be great.

What we usually do is disconnect the RS and then let the customer take it for a few days to see if this is actually the problem . If they come back without the problem then I would have them bring the purchase receit back with them and then send it into DEI for a warranty replacement . I dont think the ribbon should have 12 volts and the yellow will get 12 volts from ign. it is a input to the brain .

Thats exactly what I did. In my experience I find its always the remote starts faultDEI 552T problem? draw - Last Post -- posted image., until I educate them about how it works. When I cycled the remote start the wires that were 12 volts dropped to grounds during remote start process. We'll see what happens.
