for sure not a DIY car. this car is CAN BUS crazy. bring it to a shop, this will kick you hard.

With all due respect to your experience, neither Fortin, nor Bypasskit, nor iDatalink list any product at all that will bypass the transponder keys on the '07 A4. They list several choices for the new style Jettas, and given that the A4 is not that new of a design and fairly common, that says a lot.
This car is definitely a job for the experienced installer if you and your shop want to take it on at all.
If it were my customer I would follow the following procedure.
1. Verify that the car has some provision for a conventional ignition key, and look at the transponder antenna/wiring setup for said conventional key. If the car is proximity key only, or the antenna is something other than a 2-wire European style transponder antenna, I would turn the job down right then.
2. Have an installer talk directly to the customer. Advise them that although you think that installing an RS on their car is feasible, you've got some caveats due to the lack of specific information on the transponder bypass. Explain to them how a universal bypass operates, and how their car's immobilizer is a type that will usually accept a universal bypass.
3. If the customer isn't bothered by step 2, advise them that in the event that their car's check engine light comes on in the next few days after the vehicle is remote started, that you can reset it, and that they should bring it to you and not the dealer because there is approximately a 100% chance that the dealer will charge them $100 or more for the diagnostic time and blame it on the remote start install regardless. Obviously this step assumes that you or a friend have access to an OBD-II scan tool.

Gotten to the point where I wont touch ANY Audi after 04, they have perfectly good factory alarms with tilt and motion sensors, and are CAN laden. I looked at an 05 A6 last week, Directwire simply gives you the CAN wires(!) and this site has a schematic for it, when I took out the driver kick panel (one piece going back to the "B" pillar and you have to remove the trim between the doors to get at it, the hood release is strange to get out also) so after 1 hour , I'm there and guess what? Nothing tallies, P.S. The leads from the ignition switch are also probably data. Forget it.
