Open the hood and locate the hood pinswitch, inspect it for damage. Press the switch down with your finger and see if the icon goes away. If it does go away, see if it starts with you holding it down. If it does start, you need to repair or adjust the pinswitch. Do not permanently hold it down. It is a VITAL part of the safety system.

Exactly what he said.
If no hoodpin were ever installed, but the unit still thinks the hood is open, then that's a different story.....maybe something is wrong internally with the brain.
But yes, if there's a hoodpin installed, simply inspect it. You could also temporarily disconnect its wire to see if that makes any difference.
The IM01 shouldn't be sending any kind of hood-open signal to the remote starter. But you could umplug it, and then try the remote start again...........it won't successfully remote start without the IM01, but if it at least makes an attempt, you'll know it's not seeing an open hood anymore.
Also, you don't want to unplug that IM01 unless you have the instructions and ability to reprogram it to the car.
