Door pop solenoid

Good day!I have a customer that owns a vw mk1 golf 2door.He got his door handles removed ,and closed the holes where the handles comes,so there's noway to open or lock the doors from outside.he is currently using the back door to get in and open the drivers door,which isn't so nice at all but also clever to remove the handles as the thiefs previosly just removed his handle and pushed the lever down to open the door.I wanna try and help the dude to get something fitted in the drivers door so when he disarms the alarm,the drivers door pops open.I was wondering of a trunk solenoid motor,will it be able to be powerfull enough to pull the rod or at the lock,and pop atleast with a small swing so the owner can open and not stay in the catch as he won't have grip to open the door,like with some cars trunks,some pops totally out of the cath,i want the door to do the same thing.will it be an idea,I don't want to attempt then fail. I know how to wire the solenoid up with a relay. I will select the selective unlocking feature but I'm not going to fit c/locking as its no use to. The feature will allow for the door to pop open with pressing the disarm the 2nd time.Do it once,do it right - This means no short cuts. A trunk solenoid will work it will pull the door past the catch. You can also buy kits (US,UK?) that give you an extra pull wire, comes out to the front wheel arch.

Is the extra wire for incase of a failing solenoid? I think this is a briliant idea for the old golfs with the handle problems.I will purchase the solenoid during the week,ill just have to see where to attach the solenoid to pull.Do it once,do it right - This means no short cuts. Yes, acts as a safety in case of solenoid or battery fail. You only need it for one door to get you into the car.

I'd recommend putting the safety wire not on the driver door, as that is the most likely one to look for. Enough said.
