My sony Xplod will not play because of an overcurrent protection light. Any idea what causes overcurrent fault? The voltage is fine, around 12.70 with vehicle off and 13.98 with vehicle running. I appreciate any help, Thanks.

Huh, 12.7 when the vehicle is off?

I am running rca inputs and yeah, around 12.7v or so when off. Its in a 94 Nissan Max if that helps any. I've never had any problems before though. Had the amp installed for roughly 3 years now.

Disconnect the speaker wires from the amp and see if the light goes off- if it does, your problem lies in the speakers and/or wiring. If it doesn't, you've got a bad amp. You can either have it repaired, or replace it.

I only one 10" sub on it and I disconnected it. The light was still on unfortunately.

Sounds like the amp is fried. COMPLETELY disconnect all wires from the amp, and see if that resets it. If not, looks like you are sending it back to Sony for repair, or dropping some bennies on a new one...

´what are the specs of the amp and the sub?

Maybe you fried the amp

well since it was a sony, you could've fried it very easily, sony amps are known to get really hot. I had a sony amp before and it would get so hot you could prolly light a cigarette off of it Sony Xplod Amplifier -- posted image.
