I am having a problem in my key cylinder that the key doesn't keep the accessories on in the car like the headlights, the wipers, A/C, etc. The bigger problem is that my inspection is due this month. I have 1998 VW Jetta. What I am planning to do temporarily until saturday(day of inspection) is that i am going to cut the accessory wire from the ignition switch and hook it up to a relay. I am going to turn on the relay with the switch that lights up the dash so when i turn on the switch, it turns on all the accessories also. iLL connect 30 to (+) and 87 to the accessory wire. What i want to know is if what i am planning to do is ok. Someone please tell me if im wrong or right or if there is another better way i can do this. THanks

that should do the trick. if you have a lot of things on your key chain i would slim the down after you correct the problem heavy key chains can put unwanted stress on the key cylinder. i also looked up any recalls on you ca,r there are two here the link http://www.autosite.com/content/own/service/index.cfm...

Thanx. I'll prolly keep it like that after i connect the accessories with the switch because I have no idea how to fix the cylinder. The only thing I could think of is changing it but then wouldn't I have to use another key?
