Hey guys. Its been awhile since ive posted on here. Im workin at a car audio shop now. Are DYohn, forbidden and stevdart still around? They were some of the big posters last time i was on here.
Anyway to get to my point. Im looking for a new HU that is ipod compatible. Right now i have a Eclipse CD5425. Ive had it for about 2 years and love it. But i just got a ipod recently and i cant hook it up to the 5425.
I was wondering what your guys opinions on the new Eclipse line is? I looked on the website and the CD3100 looks like a good match for me, how much are those going for? Do i have to buy an extra piece to play my ipod on it, and will it charge the ipod? What kind of track readout does it have? I want to be able to see the artist and song title at the same time. It also looks like the new Eclipses have the one "joystick" knob, is it used in the same way as the ones on the pioneers, because i dont like that setup.
I can get Pioneer and Kenwood from work at 10% above my boss's cost, but im not a big Pioneer fan and i would kind of like to stick with Eclipse.

I have a CD7100 with the ipc-106 (ipod controller) and I love both pieces. It does charge the iPod. With the CD3100 (which retails for $249), you only get a single line of display, so you would not get both the artist name and song title. I would say go for the CD5100, which has the full motion screen for better ipod compatibility.
The joystick is a bit different from the pioneers, and I happen to like it a lot more. The spin part on the outside of the knob is not connected to the center directional pad, so you can spin without fear of hitting up, down, left, or right.
Hope this was helpful!
