Hey there. I have a DEI Rattler 250 security system in my car with integrated shock protection that supposedly will make the alarm chirp if the car is shook and will go into full alarm if the car is hit hard. All aspects of the alarm work flawlessly and I'm very happy with it. However, I have tried shaking the car several times very hard and it does not set off the alarm. I have played with the shock guard sensitivy knob on the alarm module but it has no effect whatsoever. My question is, does the alarm module have to be mounted in a level position horizontally for it to function correctly or can it be mounted in any position? Right now it's mounted on a metal bracket at about a 45 degree angle under my dash (in a very secure location). Does anyone know if these things need to be mounted in any certain way in order for them to function correctly? The car is a 95 Chevy Cavalier and the alarm is a DEI Rattler 250 that I installed myself. Thanks.

chris a shock sensor works when the car is struck, you can shake the car all day long and i don't know of any shock sensors that will go off, try doing this
arm the rattler 250 wait 10 seconds the strike the a pillar, if the alarm chirps the shock sensor is working properly, you may want to ajust it so it takes a med strike to set it off so you don't get alot of false alarms

I tried striking the A pillar as you suggested and sure enough it did trigger the alarm. How about that, the alarm was smarter than I was! Thanks for your help.
