Hello,

I want to hook up the wiring so that my alarm could use the trunk release function. It works with the stock key fob. What color wires would I need to tap into? I also have a radio shack 4 pin relay, can that be used?

Thanks,

Gary.

First ascertain whether the switch output wire is pos triggered, neg triggered or a motor wire (it sits on ground) also the appprox current draw when it's energise, also what alarm, somw brands have a 10amp pos trunk release wire, most are 120 milliamps neg going.

Thanks for the replies, I hooked the WHITE/ blue wire to #30 and blew the fuse. Am I not hooking it up correctly? heres how I hooked it up...

I have 86 and 87 hooked up to constant 12V, 85 hooked up to < size=1 face=OfficinaSans-Book>< size=1 face=OfficinaSans-Book>(-) 200mA trunk release output, and #30 hooked up to trunk release wire.

< size=1 face=OfficinaSans-Book>< size=1 face=OfficinaSans-Book>

< size=1 face=OfficinaSans-Book>< size=1 face=OfficinaSans-Book>Thanks.

Look at the picture in the following link.  https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=88389&KW=camry+trunk+5  You will have to get a new relay.

OK you need a 5pin rely A.K.A type 87a.

RED / white from alarm to 85,

12volt + constant with a 15amp fused supply to 87 and 86,

Release switch side of WHITE/ blue to 87a and

Trunk side of WHITE/ blue to 30.

You obviously didn't read the comments I posted on my first reply about seeing what the wire does, I think I mentioned "motor wire" which would be sitting on ground, thus blowing fuses.
