do i need a time delay relay?

I am modifying a Show and go electric sliding automotive plate holder to extend out further. I used a draw track and a door lock actuator, to slide it out further I want to tie it in to the existing controls for the Show and go plate. It has a remote control that makes it go up and down by reverse the motor leads via the controller, it appears as if there is a resister inline to slow the plates movement down. I think I need to tie my actuator in the the motor feed wires before the resister, with a relay. Trouble is that I need it to reverse the wires going to the actuator when closing it as well as a the plate needs to fold down before the actuator is pulled in. about a 10- 15 second delay would work. Is there any way to mount a switch so that when the DLA reaches the point it will trip the switch which could in turn trigger 2 additional relays that would then power the OEM actuator?
