Hi guys,
I have a sony cdx-ght56ui with usb/aux connections i'm trying to hook up in my 2006 honda accord and when i connect the wires i still have the red wire and the YELLOW /GREEN stripe wire that's taped to the antenna plug still unused. I've also realized the radio stations won't play but i can play music through my phone using the usb. Can anyone fill me in on the correct hookup?
thanks

I don't see a YELLOW /GREEN striped wire on the sony radio or the Accord factory harness.
Which wires are you referring to when you say the red and YELLOW /GREEN stripe wire that's tape to the antenna plug?
Which antenna plug?
Do you have the Sony CDX-GT56UI? I didn't find anything on a CDX-GHT56UI

yea thats what i said. the red wire is supposed to be the dimmer wire but i have no idea what wire it connects to on the harness plug for the sony. as far as the YELLOW /GREEN striped wire i'm truly lost at what that's supposed to be connected to. but it's taped to the black plug that runs from car and plugs directly into the back of the radio. i've looked at at least 10 diagrams and none mention the YELLOW /GREEN striped wire.

The 71-1721 factory radio harness is the item that contains these wires in the 06 accord.

Radio 12V     WHITE/ green     +     radio harness
Radio Ground     black     -     radio harness
Radio Ignition     yellow/red     +     radio harness
Radio Illumination     RED / black     +     radio harness
Power Antenna     YELLOW /GREEN     +     radio harness
Left Front Speaker (+/-)     GREEN/ black - lt. green     +,-     radio harness
Right Front Speaker (+/-)     GREEN/ YELLOW - gray     +,-     radio harness
Left Rear Speaker (+/-)     blue/white - blue/black or blue - pink     +,-     radio harness
Right Rear Speaker (+/-)     pink - blue / YELLOW or lt. green - purple     +,-     radio harness
Looks like RED / black is Illumination. Not all aftermarket radios use this wire. If the sony does there would be an orange color wire coming off the Sony. YELLOW /GREEN says its the power antenna wire, This wire gets hooked up to the Sony's radio blue wire. Without hooking up the Power antenna wire you would get static on the radio because you are not power up the antenna amplifier that the Honda has. Once you power that wire, your radio will work correctly.

ok ok i thought thats where the YELLOW /GREEN wire went. but as far as the, solid red, dimmer wire it's still free. i found out there was a into plug, product 70-1721, that connects to the factory car harness and the harness for the new receiver as well, but clearly i didnt know upfront. but so far you guys have been the greatest of assistance. if anyone finds out about the dimmer wire and what it's supposed to connect to please let me know.
thanks greatly

If there is a wire on the 1721 that does not have a matching wire on the radio harness, simply insulate that wire so it does not touch anything. If there is a wire on the radio that does not have a matching wire on the 1721, do the same with that wire as well.
