The 555F can be a pain to get positioned correctly.  I would play with it until you find a good position then use zip ties and strip caulk to really hold it in place.  Another approach would be to use DEI's 555U, but with this unit you would need to have a key that will stay in the car.

I played with it for about 3 hours trying different positions.  It works fine when the outer steering column shroud is not in place.  As soon as I put the steering column shroud back on, it only works intermittently.  I have come to live with it, but it's just a PITA.  Even my stock key sometimes doesn't work.  Occassionally I have to push as hard as I can on the oustide of the key cylinder to try to "adjust" the stock sensor ring in the steering column.  I think it's just bad engineering on Ford's part.
