I have an '05 Escalade EXT which has had a problem with the dome light since it was delivered from the dealer.  The front passenger door does not activate the dome light, and the RAP does not shut off if that door is opened.  I suspect a loose connection to the switch, but I guess the problem could be the BCM or the switch itself.  As soon as I get a chance, I'll check the switch & it's connections, but first I have a few questions:

Where exactly is the switch for the front passenger door?  Is it in the lock?

If I find out that the switch is good, does anyone know which wire in the BCM the switch is connected to?

Is it likely that the BCM is the culprit?

I'd rather not take it back to the dealer, even though it is under warranty.  Partly because I've already put a RS in it, and don't want to be told that I caused the problem (I didn't - it really came from the factory that way.)  But also because I feel more comfortable fixing it myself.

Any help would be appreciated.

The door switch is part of the latch mechanism. It goes from the latch to the door module that is located inside the door. From there, it heads to the BCM via the Class2 bus.

The wire color will probably be grey/black in the door.

Well, I opened the door panel up yesterday only to find that someone at the factory forgot to plug in the harness that goes to the switch!  Problem solved.  I wish all problems were this easy to solve!

Thank you to those who posted replies.
