Connecting 2 Pieces of 1/0 ga Wire

I have a 1/0 ga power wire that runs from the battery to the back of the car for the stereo. It runs along the frame under the vehicle. At one point, the ties that hold it in place broke and part of the wire drug the pavement causing it to melt off the sheathing in a small place. I just used black tape and fastened the wire back in place correctly. However, now I would like to fix it correctly since it could ground easily to the frame (or could already be[I have a parasitic drain on this wire, although the amps and signal processor are wired correctly...]) Anyways, I am trying to find a way to cut out the bad section and correctly fasten the two sections of wire together. Can anyone point me in the right direction for what I am looking for?--

Don't run power cables outside the vehicle is my first suggestion.  If you MUST do something like you describe, at the very least install a piece of PVC conduit and run the cable inside that.  I never recommend splicing power cables, and NEVER use electrical tape in a place where it can be exposed to the elements!  If you must splice, there are 1/0 gauge splice kits available.  I know 3M makes a good one.  Visit a local industrial electrical supply shop, or maybe a good electronics hardware store.Support the12volt.com

Thanks. If anyone comes across or knows a good online retailer [or local store] that carries such a product, let me know. When I purchased the car, the stereo was already ran in this fashion and I havent changed it yet. The 1/0 wiring is so expensive, I figured I would leave it. They have a 1/0ga power and ground running from the battery posts to the trunk, underneath the car. I guess because two 1/0ga wires ran under the carpet would look horrible. It was sponsored by Platinum F3 wiring, so I guess all the stuff was free and that is why they went with such large wiring... All it powers is 3 Kicker 240 amps and a digital signal processor.--

Well then, solution is simple!  Just buy enough power wire in the proper gauge for your system.  And just buy enough ground wire of the same gauge to ground to chassis near the amps.  Run the wire properly through the firewall and the car's interior.  See that you have a proper fuse holder and fuse that is appropriate for the new, smaller power wire.  Get rid of the hazard you are now faced with driving around with...things like this flit through my head when I see a car on the side of the highway engulfed in fire...which I have seen more than a couple of times! Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

What do you think of the way they ran this system with respects to running the 1/0 ground from the distribution block in the trunk all the way back up to the negative terminal of the battery under the hood?--
