97 Blazer turn signal wires?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me where the best place would be to access the turn signal wires on my 97 Blazer? I'm installing a set of signal mirrors today and would like to be able to access the wires from inside the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

im not sure of the colors, but you should be able to find then on the steering colunm. check the wires with a meter not a test light. good luck, david

I found the wires at the steering wheel but the only problem is that when I apply the brakes I have power to those same wires, and I don't want the signal mirrors on when the brake lights are on. I tested some of the other wires and found a couple that would work with the turn signals but when the turn signals are off I still have just a faint hint of power to them. I only have a light tester but I can get a meter real quick. Does it matter? Would it make a difference when I test wires with them? I'm pretty new to this so I hope I don't sound too stupid.
