I just installed a DEI remote start on my wifes 2000 pontiac GTP grand prix. Nothing fancy just a basic DEI hornet or wasp or something. Her car is not equipted with vats or anything other than the factory alarm. Install was cake found tach wire at modual, found factory alarm byppass wire at keyless modual.....  Everything went fine till I was programing the unit for the tach sencing..  It programed and worked . So I locked the doors and started it to make sure it disabled the alarm ... NOPE.... techsoft and THE 12 VOLT wire guide both indicate a orange black wire at the keyless modual as the bypass wire so there are actually three of them. NONE DISABLED IT. Then to boot everytime you use the factory keyfob to do anything the remote start looses the tach programing!   .........  It starts runs for a second or two and shuts off.  This car is equipt with auto lamps and I figured ok...., it has got to be that the headlights are flashing with the key fob, so I removrd  the brown headlight /parking light wire.. Still nothing... So I unhooked the door lock wire "light blue" still nothing, then I tried all three or four brown black wires at the keyless modual, still nope.

So as of right now all that is hooked up are, Ign 1,2, Acc, 12+constant, Tach, Ground with NSafty,  Car remote starts after tach programing. But as soon as you lock or unlock the doors with the factory keyfob nothing ... It will start, THEN THE SECURITY LIGHT IN DASH BLINKS, Car dies...  Only way to clear it is put key in ignition and reprogram tach sencing.

I love dei, never had any weird major issues before, infact I belive the factory keyless is DEI, but I can not figure out this weird issue...... I dont think it is the unit at all I think something isnt installed correct or the factory bypass wire is the key,  or unlocking the doors prior to remote start. But Im lost..

Does anyone make a GM modual to add on to the factory keyless, Id rather keep the oem keyfob and be able to remote start and keyless, trunk, and panic, all from oem remote rather thank doing all those accs with dei unit, and NO WAY do I want to use to remotes  lol..

Just seems like im missing something or there could be a easer way...

Any help would be awsome as it will make my wifes christmas gift actually work lol..

Thanks Everyone

2000 and up Grand Prix does in fact come equipped with GM's Passkey III immobilizer. You'll notice that the keys have "PK3" engraved into them.
In order to get the remote start working you'll need a bypass. There are many good ones available - I'd probably use a GMBP personally.

Anyone figure out which bypass modual I needed.. LOL  I see it called for it now in the guides... WOW OVER LOOKED THAT 1....

The GMBP from DEI is discontinued.. So I think I am going to get something new that intergrates with the databus wire if possible....

Would still love to find a oem solution if at all possible... Oem remote just so much cleaner...

Sorry for all the typo's in first post guys.. It had been a long day and it posted right before I @$$ed out... my bad

Thanks

Here's a Bypasskit search for your car - basically any of these would work allright.
PKG3 is probably by far the cheapest one that's in stock.
