Hey guys. On my 06 Dakota, manual pw and locks. I'm doing my alarm r/s and I'm only stuck at 2 parts, other than that I'm done. Part one, for the running lights portion of the install, it says the while negative triggering which is one thing that has always confused me. I tested the pink/red or RED / pink wire out of the switch when the running lights are on. It shows 4 V or so. Does that wire get a T connector and go to a relay with the 1130k res. on the ground side? I guess I just to some explnation and maybe a diagram on how that would be wired. And the last thing is for the door trigger. They are seperate so instead of dioding the 2 front doors couldn't I just run the - dome light wire to the alarm module? And would that cause it to act up if I turned the domes on anytime I'm in the truck with the alarm disabled? Any help is appreciated and sorry for the errors if any... Typing from a phone

The running lights;  assuming your alarm unit has 2 x white outputs for the running lights,  assume these can be switched pos or neg at the alarm, switch them for a neg output,  join them together then run through the resistor, no relay required because a relay already drives them. If you are not happy, then leave as pos join both to relay 86, 87 and 85 to a good ground and 30 out via the resistor.  Door switches; if your dome light goes out immediately or within 4 secs of you remotely locking the vehicle or closing the doors, then go to the domelight.  If not i.e. there is a delay, then separate switch contacts and diode them together with the diode bands facing away from the alarm module.

thanks for the fast response. there is ONE fused white wire from the alarm module for the lights. so could i just do something like this:
[alarm]-----[resistor]-----[T-connector]pink/red running light wire???
and for the domes. there is no factory alarm or anything so with the key off it takes about 5 seconds or so for the domes to fade off. with the key on it goes off within about 1-2 seconds. i think i might just have to do the diode isolation on the individual doors.

You're quite correct set up the white wire for neg, then resistor then to pink/red.  If the dome light takes 5 secs to shut down you SHOULD be OK, the alarm takes about 10 secs. settle time so you shouldn't have any problems going to the dome light switched side. If you feel safer then go to the individual door contacts and diode them together with the bands away from the alarm but it will save you time and effort if the first method works. The working rule some of us have evoved here is that if the dome light shuts down within 10secs, you don't have to worry about individual door contacts.

wow that was fast. thank you so much. ill have to count again but im pretty sure they fade out within that time limit. what will happen if they dont? i would arm the alarm and it woudl set off if the domes stayed on longer than the given time?

If they don't you will either get warning chirps or it will trigger off immediately. You will do no lasting damage in either case.

or i could always wait a second or 2 before i arm it. by the time i shut the door and start walking away the dome is usually off when i turn around. ill go that route so i dont have to worry about diodes and relays.
thanks for all your help man.
