601t relay

I have an 89 mustang with a Viper Ultra 900, yes old model. Recently started a major restoration and was wondering about a relay I see connected to the car stereo. The relay says DEI601t. I traced one of the cables to the Alarm PURPLE / blue connection. The back of the alarm box says that's an auxiliary connection. The other cable runs to the Amplifiers remote connection. The problem I am having is that if the cable that runs to the remote connection on the amp is connected to the amp, then the amp wont turn on while the -blue\purple cable is connected. Now if I disconnect both cables from the relay, the amps come on when the radio is on. So far this is good. The relay switch does make a clicking noise if I connect the blue/purple wire to it. I ran a volt meter to blue/purple cable that runs to the alarm and it read 0. now the relay does have 12volts. I seem to remember the installer installed something way back then 10+ years ago that would shut off the amps and only allow the front speakers to work. Sorta like if you lend this car to someone or leave it for service then they wont be able to play with your stereo. it was either a sequence of buttons or holding a button for a while, not sure. Currently the remote is 6 channels. 1- arm disarm 2- pop up trunk 3- pop open drivers door 4- pop open pass door 5- roll up windows. the relay is a small square one with the normal 87 86 85 30 numbers on it. Any help would greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you could just remove the relay all together and reconnect the the amp output.  It sounds like it is used as an interupt for the remote wire, but if you don't remember how to use it you might as well just remove it!Kevin Pierson

Cut and join the wires, it's simply used as a timed shut down and the amp trigger wire, about as useful as an instrument panel light dimmer or a sunroof on a car with AC.
