Will a Valet 561R Remote Starter work in a 2001 Suburban? I have connected all the wires according to the wiring guide below. The door locks work like they should but the remote starter doesn't do anything at all. Nothing clicks or makes any sound from the remote starter when I press the button on the transmitter. I am using Xpresskit PLJX for the passlock 2 system on my suburban which was recommended from a local shop. After reading some of the posts on here, could it be that I'm using the wrong bypass kit? Will using Bypasskit GMBP do the trick? It seems a whole lot easier to connect.

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Chuck

Check your neutral safety switch, as well as the hood switch.
With a 561R and a bypass problem, the lights would flash and ignition would power up before it failed to start.

Does my 2001 Suburban have a netural safety switch? I did not see it listed anywhere in the diagram I am using. The hood pin switch is installed as well. If it has one, where is it?

After reading a bit more. I think I have it. I will connect one end of the neutral safety switch to the remote starter and the other end to ground. I have the hood pin switch connected as well. Hopefully it works.

As long as the gray/white wire is grounded, it won't interfere with remote start. You can keep the toggle switch if you like or just connect the wire to ground directly.

Today I finally got the remote starter to function. It attempts to crank the engine. Key word, attempts. The problem now is that it won't crank over to actually start. After reading the manual on the PLJX, I think that the truck goes into long tamper mode when I try to remote start it. It takes about 10 minutes before my truck will manually start after attempting to start the truck remotely. I have tried to program the resistor code on the PLJX and connect the 2nd status wire coming from the remote starter to the brown input wire of the PLJX but still come up with the same thing. I am at least progressing in getting the remote starter to work but now need it to crank over. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Did you get the tach wire correctly, if not try VOltage mode with the threshold set to low.

Ideally you should use the blue status output from the 4 pin connector. It works exactly when the bypass needs it to, whereas the 2nd status/defroster output will do no good in that case if it accidentally gets programmed as "latched" or "pulsed".

I tried the blue status output from the 4 pin satellite harness and still won't crank over to start. I will pick up a DLPKGM tomorrow and see if it works or not.
