2003 Maxima Door Speaker Wiring Help!

I have a 2003 Maxima SE and I would like to replace my door speakers and upgrade the wiring to them. I have noticed that the exisiting Rubber Groumet between the Maxima Doors and the Body is not typical. What I mean is the rubber groumet on the door is simple (I think) to get the wire into, but the groumet on the chassis is a hard plastic with a bolt in there. Basically my question is, has anyone ever ran new speaker wires from the door to the inside of the 2002 or 2003 Nissan Maxima SE? If so could you provide some help on how to do this? THANK YOU!!!

These plugs are typical in imports. What I 've had to do in the past is remove the door to drill a hole into the plug for the wires to pass through. Pain in the @$$ but effective. If the plug is able to be removed without the door being removed by taking the bolt out of the plug, then do that and drill a hole so you can pass a wire through.Jeff

If I drill directly through the plastic, do you see it causing any problems? Have you done one on a Maxima, I haven't taken it out yet, but I was wondering how many wires exist through the groumet!

I have not done a Maxima yet but I have done several Acuras witht he same plug and what I had to do was remove the plug on both the door and the body to see where there was a safe place to drill where there was no wires. It's time consuming but the end result is a nice & clean installation.Jeff

I appreciate your input. Sorry for all the questions. Once you drill a hole in the existing plastic piece do you install a groumet, or what do you do to ensure that it is water proof? Thanks!

The Acura's that I did I used some silicone on the hole and then the rubber gromet fit over top of the plug again to make it water repellent. Jeff

I have done a Maxima and to shorten installation time I drill a hole through the metal above the plug with a long drill bit then used a grommet and some good flex tubing and it looked factory, taking the door off is def. a cleaner and more prof. job but VERY time consumingCruisin Security And Sounds

I appreciate your input. Taking my door off is definately out of the question. By the way when you did the install on the max, did you upgrade the wiring to the battery? I am not sure if you installed any other equipment (amps, xover, etc) or just replaced the doors. What I am getting at is, I do not want to cut the factory battery terminal, I was wondering if there is a way to work around this. I will be running either 0/1, or 2 AWG from the primary battery to my secondary, any info would be appreciated! Thanks.

NEVER CUT THE FACTORY TERMINALS! Just get a screw in ring terminal and 'add' it to the existing wiring. I dont remember which kind of battery posts the max has but there is so many diff. terminals that they make them for virtually all applications. check out these part #s Streetwires -RTSO -BTP2 -BTP1 -BTSML Check out those parts and let us know if they will workCruisin Security And Sounds

Sorry for all the questions, and I do appreciate your help. After looking at each of those pieces, I cannot see how I can integrate it onto my current (stock nissan) battery terminal. The battery terminal is top mounted! Do you have a pic that I can see exactly what you are speaking of? Thanks!
