grounding radio through aerial

Good day. Im sorry if this is in the wrong section but i am new to this forum. I am having problems with my car radio's fm. The signal is very weak. I have heard and seen somewhere that i need to include the aerial in the radios grounding but i have no idea how. Can someone please help me with this :) :) :) Regards Richard

Your aerial is already grounded. The aerial itself is grounded where it is mounted to the vehicle. The other end of the cable is grounded to the radio's aerial input jack. What kind of vehicle is it? It may have a powered antenna that you did not power up.

Thank you for the reply I am an idiot. I do know that the aerial is already grounded to the body of the car :) and no it is just a standard aerial, it doesn't have an amplifier on it. In the documentation it shows the aerial as part of the grounding, like in between the radio and battery I think, and I have heard from a friend that the radio ground has to have the aerial included in it. I have an MK1 VW golf with a radiant DVD radio

I know the deck may be Radiant, but that would be my first thought as to your bad reception.

ARE YOU SURE this isnt a powered antenna?  very  common on VW's for the factory antenna to be amplified!  There is a special antenna adaptor for those with a blue remote wire you need to connect.,   BUT you should get "decent" fm reception even with a short length of wire put into the antenna connector on the radio. (instead of the antenna) 

OR your antenna is bad, OR your radio is defective.
