so im installing a old upgrade alarm i had stored away for a while, its a IC dynamics fa1. i have everything wired up except the arm/disarm triggers. i have no idea where to wire them to. every wiring diagram leads me to the switch for aftermarket alarms to control the locks through the alarm, but im wondering if its the same wire. also, to make sure my alarm even works, is there a way i can test it? exactly what triggers the alarm? i can program it to negative or positive, so is it a 12v signal or a short to ground that triggers it? thanks for any help.

An upgrade alarm requires 3 lock motor pulses, lock, unlock, and a defeat(passenger unlock).

Lock Motorblue/white2001 celica fac keyless alarm upgrade q. -- posted image.driver kick or BCM
The BCM is located just to the right side of the radio. Remove the radio to access.

As for trigger, use the dome suprvision wire. It will cover all 3 doors and is RED / white(negative) in the DKP.

thanks for the reply! i am actually unable to locate a blue, blue/white or RED / white in any of my kick panels. i would try looking at the BCM but there are 10 different harnesses plugged into there and i have no idea which ones go to the doors.

so i did some poking around, the door motors all switch to positive to operate the motors, while the alarm unit needs to switch to ground for the arm/disarm triggers. im guessing im going to need to build a relay unit for this?

You have NEG lock and unlock pulses at the switch in the centre console or the BCM or the DKP.
Brown = lock
Yellow/black = unlock.
Except then you could defeat the alarm via forcing the lock, I suggest go with Mike's suggestion, in your original post, you said NEG or POS triggers.

whenever i try to connect the wires to the brown or yellow/black wire, it will immediately arm or disarm the alarm on contact depending which wire i touch to the wires in the kick panel. if i leave them connected and press the center console switch nothing happens. when i try to program the alarm it gives me confirmation of what mode its in but nothing actually changes, it still arms/disarms when connected to ground. im not sure if what im saying makes sense, maybe a video might help?

Test whether these wires are momentary or constant ground.
I would have thought the first case.
If so you've made a wiring mistake or the unit is faulty.
I've never been a lover of earlier* "add-ons" possibly because I can't seem to grasp how they arm and disarm, the ones over here used lock AND light flash (or indicators) to enable and disable.
*The current ones DEI 330X series I believe Europe only, work off the CAN system.
Have you tried Google search for info?
Incidentally, the European models had a factory alarm plug behind the radio adjacent to the BCM, white plug.
Lock and unlock triggers MOMENTARY PULSE, indicators, ign+ 12v+
(-)door hatch and possibly hood triggers.

OK, forget the Google comment.
I also noticed in that other forum that someone else also alluded to your wiring.
Double check, do you have an install guide that you can post.
It may need indicator triggering or verification besides the locks.
You shouldn't need relays, the should be an internal transistor taking care of polarity conversion.

OK, so I was right about the door locks, go to driver's motor wires, easier at DKP and program for + lock inputs, also if the vehicle flashes the parking lights, then that white is fine, other wise to either indicator wire, GREEN/ YELLOW or GREEN/ black, again DKP.
Also is this unit programmed for passive arming?
If so remove alarm fuse open driver's door and turn on ignition.
N.B. Connect yellow to ignition1 which stays live on cranking.
Then replace fuse and programme for active arming.
