I think most companies are using lexan tubes which are pretty good as far as cracking from rocks etc. And here's the placement tip. Put the rods wherever you have to so that when they are on you can't see the rods from the side of the car. The point of undercar lighting is the GLOW the rods gives off, not the rod itself. Seeing a car from the side and being able to see the actual rod itself ruins the whole effect and just looks bad..If needed put electrical tape along one side of the rod so that from the side you can't see it as some cars it's hard to get them tucked up and out of the way. (On the sides anyway, front and rear are usually pretty simple..) Good luck

well bangbang,...heres what i found from my install...

like NowYaKnow said, try and keep the lights out of your line of sight from the outside of the car... it looks tacky. I had to drill into the frame to get them where i wanted, just be careful with that. The point is to see the glow, just space them out well and you shouldnt have any problems.

as for the wires, i ran them along the same line as the lights themselves, up to the power box, which i have in the engine compartment ziptied to the wheel well for a secure, out of the way spot...but every car is different so find  a place that is close enough to the battery but still out of the way of everything else.

that should about cover it, just make sure that the lights are secured in place, you dont want them falling off or anything..other than that i didnt really have any big concerns when i did it...

and for those of you experts out there, feel free to correct me or give me any suggestions on how to do it better...

good luck bangbang

yeah, i gottta a question about neon lights.

i installed 4 neon lights under my car. the distribution block isn't working.

so i put all (-) to connection then all (+) to another. It worked for a week.  Then the on october 31 which was halloween, it stopped.  That very same day it rained. But it worked for a while.then later it stopped. I"m not sure if its cuz of the rain. or is it becuz i switched it up and down to many times. or its just gay.

Then i checked out the fuse bulb thing. it was broken. i replaced it with another 1 . the exact 1. then i switched it on.. it on for a second then went off.  i checked the fuse bulb thing again. and it was burnt....  so i put another fuse bulb thing and switched it on again. it went on again for about a sec then went off. i checked the fused again for the 2nd time and it was broken again... i did this about 3 times....

Now i'm not sure wut the hell is going on.  The wires that are connected.. i checked and the (-) nor the (+) are not touching each other.  SO i dunno.......

please reply here. or please email me at phan_nam420@yahoo.com

well bangbang if i am understanding correctly the way you made the connections, then i think i know what's wrong.

if you're saying you connected all of one side of the tubes to one output from the transformer, and all of the other sides to the other lead from the transformer, then you have connected the tubes in parallel, and they're meant to be connected in series.

as you will know if you have looked into the amp and sub sections of this site, connecting separate loads like the 4 tubes in parallel will decrease the resistance, by a factor of four if each load offers the same resistance.  connecting them in series will will just add all their resistances together.  so even though the four tubes don't quite offer the same resistance as eachother, connecting them as you had them will roughly put 1/16th as much resistance between the transformer's two leads as there is meant to be, which will quickly kill it because it's trying to put out 16 times as much juice as it is supposed to.

forgive me if i have misread how you did the connections

Hey Wassup Tclaus thnx for replying

but yeah so i should use the Distribution Block? and get the powers distributed evenly? Cuz the one i have broke. so i just tried to wire it to work. but then it never broke, it was working for a week. so i'm not sure. wats going i should try to connect it by using the distribution outlet that came with it or get a new one. aslo the fuse.. should i get a better amp one. or use the same amount of fuse power?

thnx for your help.

i've never dealt with an underglow kit that used a distribution block, all the ones i've put in have just had their tubes connected in one big loop and back to the transformer.  that's not to say you're doing it wrong by not putting them that way, if the directions for your kit call for putting them in parallel.  well if you want to try putting all the tubes in one loop, the end of one tube connected to the end of the next, then you won't hurt anything if that isn't right because they would just be underpowered and wouldn't have enough juice to turn on, which won't hurt a neon tube.  and if it works then everybody's happy but if not then i've never had experience with the parallel method using the distribution block, so i can't speculate about that.  hope you get it figured out.
