I am trying to remove the factory stereo on a 1987 Mercedes 300 SDL, but after I removed the clips in the front, it only pulled out another 1/2 inch. I would like to know how to remove the entire thing so I can install my old deck.

Any assistance would be helpful

It's been a whiles since I've done this... but try:
1. Pull up the wood trim around the shifter. Pull up from the rear and disconnect the switches
2. The plastic storage "bin" in front of the shifter should just pull right up
3. Open the ashtray and remove two screws inside it. Remove ashtray.
4. The stereo should now slide out very easily.
