Basically here is my situation....I just bought a bunch of stuff to build a system including 2 S12L7 Kicker Subs....2 RF Amps to push the subs....2 caps....and a Eclipse CD5423 Head unit.

I really want to do this install myself, not really so much for the reason I dont want to pay, but more that I really want to learn how to do this stuff, because it is a major interest of mine, and I want to be able to help friends out with their installs.  I am just right now in my garage trying to pull apart the panels, and I think I may be tackling more then I can handle without a little guidance.

So my question for you guys...is there anybody in the north shore Massachussets area that would be willing to help me out??

Thanx for the help,
Dave

Well my suggestion to you is take your time, if you have any trouble with the install just drop us a post and someone should be able to help you out.....

first make sure you use the proper tools, like for your panels dont try a screw driver, they have tools that they make for panel removal, get some containers and mark them...as to generally where the parts goto...such dash..left front door etc...

Always make sure you check before you begin to drill .... I like to make a little dent  with a punch and then verify where the punch is on the other side...

Always run your power and signal leads away from each other....generally run the battery power, remote turn-on, down the same side as the battery....

Use gormmets whenever wires pass through metal

Use wire ties to hold wires away from any moving objects, especially in the engine...(also under the dash such as heat and air controls.)

Plan your wire routing an run the speaker wires and line level signal leads on the opposite side of the vehilce ( if that cant be done try to keep your power and signal cables as far apart from each other as possible) because the speaker leads can pick up radiated noise from the battery power cable and therefore let noise into your system...

When you ground your amps...finding a good ground can be somewhat tricky... find somewhere where you can ground to the vehilces chassis body....(again be careful where you drill)....scrap away the paint...I like to use a star washer...due to the fact that if you use a flat washer its just that flat where on the other hand a star washer will tend to dig into the chassis getting more surface area...for less resistance

As for wiring your Head Unit...try to find some info on your dash...ask us on here to see if anyone knows how it will come apart...dont force it...

I am assuming you have a wire harness...wire that as you normally would just follow the colors...if they dont match and you are unable figure them out...post back with the problem...I would use a seperate ground for your head unit than the one in the harness...just find again a spot on the chassis...

Your caps wire them in parrel to the amp (some say to ground them seperately I have mine wired in parrell both the ground and positive...you will also have to connect a remote turn on wire to the cap which I believe also you can also wire in parrell with the amp....

I hope thats not too much....I think its the basics though....Others might have more suggestions for you though....

Good Luck with the install
