2000 Mustang GT Remote Starter Problem

Well heres the problem i installed a remote starter in my 2000 mustang gt and it works no problem. The problem comes with the aftermarket alarm that was already installed in the car when i bought it. I wired the keyless to my remote starter unit so i dont have two remotes i need on my keychain. When i remote start and unlock on the starter remote the alarm goes off. I was thinking of wiring a sort of timed delay relay, to disconnect the door pin switch from the aftermarket alarm when an unlock pulse is sensed or when the car is remote started for about 15-30 seconds or so. Only problem is I've never seen any relays like this or where to get them. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for me? Has anyone run into this problem before when installing a remote start in a car that already had an aftermarket alarm in it. As far as I know theirs no temporary bypass on the alarm. so you are using the remote start to control the alarm as well? does the remote start have wire that triggers it for external activation? if so tie it onto a spare channel on the alarm. you will lose range but your problem will be solved. another option would be to take both out and install a combo unit. the way it is set up now you may also get false alarms from the shock sensor after you remot start

alarm doesnt have a shock sensor, and the remote starter doesnt have an external activation. as far as i know not many do. also a combo unit is not an option, think inside the box. i already have the remote starter, and the aftermarket alarm works, and its not getting replaced. any experienced techs ever done this before or had to deal with this, let me know how you tackled it. appreciate it guys. Disconnecting the door trigger is pointless. You need to disarm the alarm at some point before you can drive away. Use the alarm remotes for lock/unlock/arm/disarm. Use the remote starter remote to start the car. There is no other way with the method you chose to do this.

i agree if there is no external activation input... all good systems have these.
