Hey guys, I own a 93 Civic Coupe, and I have come up with these 3 designs. Will I honestly be able to hear any differences from the each of these setups? I will be using a DEI 1100d, DEI 150, and 2 12" Atomic Quantums.

http://www.oswego.edu/~tyger/setups.jpg

1. 2 Subs(individual boxes mounted together) center far back as possible against the back seat. The amps would then be mounted on the back seat with the cap and distribution block or I might put the amps and etc next to the box but have it covered with a piece of MDF making the Box look flush and having all the other items hidden.

2. 2 Subs(individual boxes mounted together) left aligned far back as possible against the back seat and then making an amp rack holding the amps, distribution block and cap.

3. 2 Subs at angles just to fit the amps, cap, and distribution block in between. They won't be as nearly as angle in that picture unless it would sound any better.

ive got mine in fiberglass boxes in the back corners of my trunk aimed at the middle of the trunk lid.  sounds great.  i like my subs as close to the back as possible.  when i had my old MDF box i played with it and they didnt sound near as good faced forwards or up.

you will want to face them backwards so the bass wave bounces off the back off the car and then comes forward. this lengthens the bass wave and thereby creates louder bass.
if its jammed force it - if it breaks in the process it needed to be fixed anyway

oh btw, im going to suggest the amp rack idea.  dont mount it to the box.  im still deciding where to put mine too.  down to 3 options, tho: the spare tire well covered by plexiglass, underneath the back deck, or on the seat.  with the first two im going to need a fan tho.

The subs will be facing the back of the car, but the back of the box will be close to the back seat as possible. Also I would mount the amps and such on the back seat not on the boxes if I do that setup. Still deciding. But will I actually noticed a difference if the subs are left aligned compared to center?

not too sure about whether it matters if they are centered or not.  didnt try that cause my old box was too big.  couldnt imagine that it would make a huge difference as bass is nondirectional.  also, remember not to push the box too close to your seat if the amp is on it so that the amp still has airflow and doesnt overheat.  been there and done that, not too fun.

if you center the box, the bass has the best path to travel to the wall of the trunk then back to you

there really wont be that big of a difference......bass is not that directional due to the tones they play. we do subs at wll kinds of angles. it really makes not difference unless you are going for an SPL type setup. then there are other things that come into play along with the position of the subs.

Ive always heard that BUT if your saying the wave will bounce off the back then when it comes back (being in the trunk of a coupe) wont it just bounce back again? Since the trunk is seperate from the cab, there are walls all around. JW
dream it, build it, fiberglass it

thats why i fold my seat down=).  oh btw, it doesnt lengthen the wave, that would make the tone lower.  physics.  but it does decrease cancellation making it seem louder.
