I did that on my toyota pick-up leaving the key insert there. I installed door poppers as well but being cautious incase the door popper did not want to work one day I had the insurance that I could open the door using the key insert. I tied the key hole with the latch itself so that way as you turn the key it pulls the latch on the door opening it instead of locking it or unlocking it. Not hard at all, but it is a sure safe way to save you from breaking your window or anything else.

All you have to do is think smart and not hard . A bike brake cable will be the answer to you question to have no key or hole . Run the cable into your door and secure the inner cable end to your latch mech . thenslide the shielding away  from the latch and secure this to your door . This should allow you to pull the other end of the cable to release your latch and open your door. Just run the cable to a safe designated area on your vehicle and attatch an end on it so you can pull it , something like a replacement hood pop from autozone , and most stores even have the bike cable in like 6 or 8 feet . It took me alot of times having to remove the backwindow in my truck before I got smart and found a way when my remote or battery died .no door poppers -- posted image.

Well another thing that alot of people do without adding door poppers is they get a module to roll down there windows so all you do is roll down your window using your alarm and open the door from the inside
