true EXCEPT if the amp is subject to any kind of engine noise you have to listen to it all the time, even with the radio turned off.....which is why i suggested the 55000 from DEI...it does exactly what you want it to....generates a remote turn on voltage but is switched on and off with the head unit thru an AC detect circuit tapped off any speaker wire.....

If I recall correctly, the newer dubs don't have the ignition wire behind the stereo.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

i am not a big vw guy but i think they do...i don't think you hook the power ant/rem. wire up to them though..i will look on a harness at work tomorrow and find out
