hey fellas, I have a problem, i have an alpine 7875 headunit.  The problem is, once in a while the deck would just start "skipping", I threw in another cd, and the deck still gave a weird sound output, like it was skipping or something only  a little worst than regular cd skipping.  I changed the source to the radio and it did the same thing?? what can be wrong? I checked my manual and it didn't list this problem, so im looking for help in you guys.  thanks in advance

Hey, did u install it urself? If you did, pop it back out, check all ure wires, Especially ur ground and ignition wires to make sure nothings loose. Also while ur at it, make sure that ur attenna it properlly connected to the head unit, and that all the wires 'fit nicely and not pinched' when u put it back. If all this doesnt fix it, take it to where ever u got it from and ask them to look at ur wiring or the deck itself.

Hope that helps!

thanks fellaz, yea i installed it myself, all the wires are crimped securely, maybe i should just double check again anyways,

to clarify some more, this deck is hooked up to a sub and an amp.  My mids and tweets are powered through the stock wires for now because i have problems with some channels on my amp.  To better describe what's happening,  the sound output is similar to the "clipping" sound, but the wierd thing is the sound output from the sub sounds fine, it's only my mids and tweets?

The first time this happened was on a very hot day and my car was parked, when I turned my car on like usual, the "clipping" began, so i figured it must be the cd since it sounded like a scratched cd at first, when I changed the source, the same "clipping" sound occured.

When I looked in my manual, there was some stuff with heat, but this clipping sound occured even at night time when it was cool? Well that's what I have for now.  thanks for your time

Sounds to me like either your impedence load on the head unit is too low (no less than 4-ohms per channel, please) or  icacha's initial post was the best advice you're going to get: the amplifier or power supply in the head unit probably needs replacement.  Is it under warranty?
