Hi guys,

My questions is I know audio people prefer the yellow top of optima batterys for audio but which yellow top model is the question I have, theres many models on optima.com

Also do you think I should get a higher output alternator since my amp keeps going into thermal protection when I put the volume high?

For the record I have a 2003 altima 3.5 se which I think comes stock with a 110a alternator. And the following is my audio system

Head Unit: Pioneer Deh-p9600mp

Sub Amplifier: Audiobahn a2300hct 1200x2 rms
Component Amplifier: Audiobahn A2401t 100x2 rms
Subwoofers: 2-12” Awp312t   2ohm dual coil 1200 rms
Capacitor: Pyle 3 farad digital
Component Speakers: Diamond Audio M661 6.5

P.S. Does anyone know anybody that does custom enclosures in so cal. preferably riverside county

The amp is going into "thermal protection?"  This is probably more likely due to too low an impedence load on the amp than too low system voltage, unless the amp simply uses the same light to indicate any sort of shutdown.  In any case, I say the first step in addressing ANY system voltage problem is to upgrade the alternator.  A deep cycle battery like a yellow top would be my second step.

FYI - police run a 130 amp alternator and deep cycle battery. Ambulances Run 130 amp alternator or more and two batteries.

HIs amp maybe going into "thermal" due to age and heat?  maybe its mounted under a seat, full or dust, and overheating?  Just a thought.
