Does anyone know how to interface an aftermarket remote start with a factory alarm?  I have seen this done on a 2001 durango.  the car was started when the doors were locked twice from the factory remote or from inside the car (it was purchased from the dealership like this, but was not an option, most likely done by a contract installer).  Is there a double pulse input on remote starters or do you think this was an actual unit that was designed for factory alarm interfacing?  My girlfriend has a 2002 Acura RSX and wants a remote start, but wants to keep her factory alarm and remote.  Thanks.

You can purchase units that integrate into the OEM keyless entry remote control to operate the remote start feature but the only draw back of this is that the range of the remote control is only as good as the current range on the OEM remote's. Here are some options that you can look at:

You will need an Immobilizer bypass module and a spare key to bypass the anti-theft system in order for any of the systems to work. The Immobilizer modules we sell are about $ 55.00.

Yes, there are many remote starts that work off the factory keyless.  I install the Audivox AS-9075, which works by pressing Lock, Unlock, and then Lock.

On every Honda I've seen, the factory keyless gets disabled when the motor is running.  (Have your girlfriend try hers to verify this.)  So after the car has been remote started, the owner has to use the key to get inside.

If it's possible to find the factory keyless module, a relay could be used to interrupt the ignition wire going into it whenever the remote starter is on; this would allow the owner to get into the car.

Also, the range of the factory remotes usually isn't that great.
