Im installing my alarm in my Z/28 and i've run into some diffculties. I got the alarm portion installed, the siren and the door trigger. So I can arm it, and the alarm goes off when the doors and trunk is open. I've got questions about the door locks and two lights. On my dome light output, im at a loss where to install it too. The manual suggests that I can install it to where I instaled the door trigger at. When the door is shut, it's a 12v, and when the door is open it's a ground, the install guide says that is a place for it in the harness, but i've yet to see it. I installed the wiring for my parking lights, but they dont ever come on, when the alarm is set off, or armed/unarmed they dont blink or anything, but they still work fine. I hooked it to the wire behind the light switch and check it with a test light and tested fine. On the door locks, I wired up a relay according to the 5 wire reverse polarity on the multiple wire system page. I know which wires to splice into, but do I need to cut the wire anywhere? Or can I just tap into the door lock and unlock with out cutting any stock wiring? -Thanks.

  • As far as the parking lights go, are you getting 12 volts + off the arlarm system ?
  • For the door locks: Non-keyless versions: Use light blue for lock and dark blue for unlock. Both wires are located in either door harness. The passenger switch is the master switch. Keyless versions: Use RED / black for lock and ORANGE / black for unlock. Both wires are located in the passengers kick panel at the keyless entry module. Do NOT use the orange power wire at the keyless module or door lock switch to power your door lock relays. The passenger switch is the master switch.
  • Dome light is a (-) so you can use the door trigger wire for the dome light wire for the alarm system.

Okay, so from # 30 on each relay, I can just tap each into the unlock and lock wiring? Do I need to cut the wire anywhere? Or just installing a tap will be okay? Im not getting 12v from the wire on the light, the light switch is neutral at rest and I set the polarity of the alarms built in switch set to positive, still no go. I was already planning on returning the alarm's brain, but when I installed the dome light output to the same wire as my door trigger, and the alarm brain started to smoke, to my suprise it still works like it did before, the alarms arms and detects when the doors are open. It's a 2-way paging system, and it would display when it armed/disarmed but never shows up that the car was locked. I've installed this alarm into my friends Honda so I have a good idea how it should work. As for the door trigger, when it's closed it's a 12v and open it a ground? Even though both triggers are negative I can still connect them to the same place?

Im sorry, the parking light is a ground when it's off, and 12v when on. I tested the wiring comming from the alarms brain and it doesn't do anything. So it's going back tommrow.
