I have the ford "premium sound system".  I am trying to figure out if I run RCA cables back to an amp from an aftermarket cd player, can I run speaker wires back to the dash from the amp to utilize the factory door wiring or do I have to run seperate wires to each individual door speaker?  My question is whether or not my truck has a factory amplifier in-line somewhere.  Do I need the special by pass harness or can I just run it staright through the factory speaker harness?   Hard to get a straight answer.  I have two plugs in the back of the radio with two additional plugs that are not connected to anything just taped down to the factory harness.  The two plugs that are used, one plug is skinny  and rectangular, the other is square shaped.  I guess the ones taped down were for a more advanced system.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Oh I am NOT using the built in amplifier in the deck just a 4 channel amp behind the rear seat and a small mono amp for a 10" subwoofer.  I just wanted to make sure I wasn't sending an apmplified signal back to a wiring harness that would lead to another amp in line somewhere.  Thanks for everything,  Charles Abbott.

If you have the OEM amplifier, yes you will need the bypass harness.  What's the truck?

Exactly my question, what is the truck? Describe the molex plugs in the factory head unit and the number of wires in them. To me it sounds like the extra plugs are for the Premium sound system. One plug is probably grey (the rectangular one) and the other one may be chrome (the square one). Are the plugs in the factory head unit basically identical in size and shape? Is one grey and the other black?

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
