i was installing a remote start in a 99 f-150 today and the customer didnt have the cash for the bypass mod so i was gonna take the chip out of the key. well i pull the hoop from around the key cylinder and go to attactch the pill to the hoop and now the truck wont start with either keys and the theft light flashes repeatedly. ive dont this tons of times and never any issues ata ll what so ever. i also have the same proceedure done on my wifes 04 focus and not a problem one. does anyone know how toi repromgram the keys or have any sugestions cuz i dont really want to have this truck towed to the dealer.

No good deed goes unpunished99 ford f-150 pats -- posted image.

Have you tried to put Key & Ring back together & try again, making sure there is nothing broken or unhooked?

If niether Key will start, you will most likely have to have someone reprogram keys back to Factory

Here's a link to program the keys. You will need two active keys to program a 3rd. Otherwise to program a single key, you need the dealership to do it.

so if you were just going to pop out the chip and jam it up under the ign ring, what prevents this vehicle from seeing two "chips" keys at the same time??

or do you then pry all the other transponder pellets out of his other keys?     wouldnt a universal bypass for 10 bucks have been a cheaper and easier route to take?

This is exacty  what  dealers hate.  For an extra $10 for a blank key, and $10 universal bypass you could of prevented this.  If people do not want to pay for the interface or can not at that time I put the starter in and wait to do the interface.  Do it right the first time.

What happens if owner is out of town and something happens or he wants another key?

Try to disconnect battery. Wait a few minutes. Hook  EVERYTHING up to the way it was factory.  Hook up battery. See if it starts.  If it just flashes and everything is hooked up, then you damaged the chips or collar. Then it will have to go to the dealer.
