I did a search and realize compustar has some doodiety remotes, not sure though if my problem is because of that. Here's what happens-
remote works fine, unlocks, locks car, beeps, etc. Backlight doesn't come on at all, the range sucks butt, and it doesn't notifity me on the screen if my car is locked or not. I know it was working a week ago but all the sudden went to the crapper. Anything I can do????

Compustar remotes are better than most. Take it back to where it was installed and I am sure they will take care of the issue.

I installed the alarm myself. It's a remote issue, I read about numerous problems with them, just wondering if there's a little tweak or fix I can do to make it work like it used to.

Well half the "crap" that your talking about is doodie off of Ebay. Plus if your range is crap. Which is funny because compustar has the best range on the market. It all depends where your antenna is located. Make sure you don't have a tint strip of any kind. Word. And by a new remote or change your AAA battery. Word.

Well i'm assuming the range is crap because the damn thing isn't working properly. Before I was able to unlock my car 1/4+ plus eassssssssssy. Since the backlight stopped working, status stopped showing, the range has decreased. It's funny cause when I did a search there was two pages of people having compustar remote problems, i doubt all them bought it off ebay.

Compustar remote problems are common but not yours there was a time when they would start to reset and progressively get worse. That usually stems from them getting dropped, and like dswift said the best range on the market . What system do you have, you're probably better off getting a new remote.

If you bought the system from a dealer you would get warranty for it without any questions asked. If you bought the system online, your on your own... no warranty unless the online store will give you their own warranty. In cases like this where range and remote function is a problem, change out both the remote and the antenna as this will remedy the problem.

K thanks for the help. This has been my favorite alarm by far, if only the remote was built a little more durable. I have dropped it a few times though, I guess I need to talk to the dealer. I was just hoping there was an easy fix. Thanks!

Every alarm companies 2-way remote will start having problems if you drop them too many times. Its just like a cell phone. You can probably get away with dropping it a few times, but eventually you are going to start having problems.
Compustar is one of the bigger companies out there. The more people that use a prodect, the more problems you will see. People aren't going to come onto a forum and make a post "My alarm is working perfectly, what do I do now?". If you do a search on DEI remote problems you will see a lot more of those. It doesn't mean they make crappy products either. It just means they sell a lot of them.
One suggestion I can make is to get a case for your 2-way remote. I have one on my Compustar 2W900FM remote and it does a really good job of absorbing the impact from a small fall. I used to see them on eBay a lot, but not anymore. This is where having a local dealer would come in handy. Also, don't put the remote on your key ring. All the banging around it does won't be good for the remote either.
