you can get a solid state Wig wag (compatable with seperate High/Lo 4 headlight systems) from ebay for about 20-30 bucks. Personally I like the Code 3 model 700 series

I've got the dual-bulb 9004s. Might make my own because I'm poor, a cheap bastard, and I'm an electronic major.
Probably work on it next year when it's warm and I know a little more about it.

There is not much to it:
astable multivibrator- driving a relay and a second relay via an inverter

I think building our own wig wag or alternating light module give us a sense of satisfaction. That's how I felt when I got to build my own. I have build 3 of these and they still working out on the streets. It may not be legal but if is for show is all good.

The diagram is linked here.  With one regular flasher, 3 relays and some time and patience you should be ready to go. Make sure you bench test it before you actually have to go and splice your high or low beams from your car/suv.  I got a bigger and clearer image from that of the link I just couldn't post it here. Maybe cause is bigger than what's authorized.
