Hi Mike,

To test for a (-) type wire like Lock or Unlock, set your DMM to 20V DC, connect the Red test lead to +12V constant ( battery ) and the Black test lead to the suspect wire.  DMM will indicate +12V when signal is present.

To test for a (+) type wire like Parking Lights, set your DMM to 20V DC and connect the Black test lead to chassis ground and the Red test lead to the suspect wire.  DMM will indicate +12V when signal is present.

Have fun with the DMM!   1996 ford bronco factory keyless entry? - Page 2 -- posted image.

Soldering is fun!

Getting the power:
I think I'm not wanting to grab the constant 12v from steering column. I think I will go the extra and grab dedicated 12v constant from the battery post and run it in through firewall (neatly and in a harness of course). I also was thinking of placing an inline fuse a couple inches from post connection? Good? What size fuse?
Thanks All!!!

switch your door trigger to H2/12 (purple) as the bronco has positive triggered door switches.
for H1/1 (red), use a 20 amp fuse on 14 gauge wire, the fuse is there to protect the wire.
if you do do remote start functions, it is fine to use the wiring at the ignition switch/steering column.

All wires and testing instructions on how to confirm using a DMM have proven exact. Here are some photos for how its going.

I will spread the gaps on the factory wires a bit more (where the testing tap areas are) and then twist my wires into the spots, solder them then tape them.  After completed I will use black 3m wire loom and zip tie shut to hide the attachments.

I will do remote starter part tomorrow.  Also mounted siren in motor compartment area pointed down and where it will not get wet.
